CouplePicnic_Otford_LookoutTraditionally, a gap year has been the period between college and the beginning of a career.  These days, the definition is expanding.  Maybe it’s 10 years… or 20 or 40 years into a career and we realize there’s an endless road yet to be discovered with “Somedayi” dreams and aspirations yet to be fulfilled.

Whether your “gap year” means taking a sabbatical, agrotourism, voluntourism or a great extended adventure, it’s an opportunity to rejuvenate, find a new passion, immerse yourself in a foreign culture and maybe, discover a new path.

Longtime travel writer and NBC News contributor, Rob Lovitt still believes the journey is as important as the destination.  Follow this link for his report on changing tracks in mid-life – “Gap Year for Grown-ups”.
